What is Power Booster? Power Booster is a utility and
interface that allows direct control over advanced power
settings, including Advanced Battery Life Extender, on an IBM
ATA/ATAPI-4 (or above) mobile disk drive. How does it work? Power Booster runs on computers running Windows 95, 98, 2000, or XP and that use one or more ATA drives that support the Advanced Power Management feature. Power Booster works differently on Windows 95/98 and Windows 2000/XP. On Windows 95/98, it uses a VxD to write ATA commands directly to the disk drive. Windows 2000/XP contains a built-in mechanism for transferring commands to the ATA system. Power Booster presents the user with a slider control for selecting a trade-off between disk drive performance and disk drive power-saving. |
